1. Holy Grail 4/5
It was and was not quite a surprise to hear Justin Timberlake featuring the intro song of the album. SInce Jay and Justin worked together on Suit&Tie that ended up to be a greatsingle. Back to this song.. The change from slow music combined with JT's vocals to a hyping beat was epic. The beat could have been better, but the switch ups from slow to fast made this up. The combo of two epic artists seems to work well for this song.
2 Picasso Baby 5/5
It's been a while since I heard such rough bass like this. Made me the song all the way. Despite Jay went over to the new school hype, like many other older rappers, he remains true to his roots. Jay wen't Picasso on this one. Good thing the second part on this song went over to an interlude.
3 Tom Ford 3/5
Don't take this rate personal. Ratings are always partly based on this personal perception. Tom Ford was a song on the album I did not feel that much. Good club track. Same goes for the next song.
4 FuckwithmmeyouknowIgotit 4/5
Finally a Rick Ross flow I'm not used to hear at all. Quite a surprise in a good way. I have to say that Rick Ross kinda took this track over, so I guess this has a typical MMG stamp on it. Simple beat, dope lyrics. Great party track, good work.
5 Oceans 5/5
Very ironic to find Frank ''Ocean'' on this track, but it's alright. The beginning with the beat and Frank's vocals were the two things that got my attention immediately. The beat: $%*Damn! Hov also does a great job with the lyrics he blesses this track with. There could have been a bit more bass on the beat though. Then I gave this song a score of 6 out of 5 haha.
6 F.U.T.W. 3/5
Makes me think of that Hip Hop music from some years back in the 2000s? Though I never might hear this type of music from Hov again, but it's a pleasant surprise.
7 Somewhereinamerica 3/5
Old school comes back again. This shows Hov's versatility with music. He can kill it on any beat. Much love for his skills. It feels though like this song could have stayed off t album.
8 Crown 5/5
'You're in the presence of a king, scratch that you're in the presence of a god'' '.. Same way the beat feels somewhat. This is one crazy, anthem like, space out song. Perfect for Travis Scott who definetely left his mark on this one. Compared to other songs there is not much lyrics on this one. But I guess this is just right this way.
9 Heaven 6/5
This rate is off, I know, but this is probably the track excited me the most. Oldschool vibe, crazy beat, Justin Timberlake vocals again and Hov going in with his first lines and this flow, with: ''Arm, leg, leg, arm, head -- this is God body. Knowledge, wisdom, freedom, understanding -- we just want our equality.'' The length could have been longer, by a longer outro consisting of only the instrumentals for maybe another minute.
10 Part II 3/5
Not the song I am really into. But this is very suitable for a single release. The chemistry with Beyonce is as always magic. But yeah, it has to be, since Hov and Be are married.
11. Beach Is Better 3/5
Another hype beat. But a nice interlude. Followed by BBC
12. BBC 2/5
Another hype beat. But a nice interlude. Followed by BBC
12. BBC 2/5
Look.. think what you want about this rate. I really did not like this track. Very rythmic and happy clappy and all. But not my taste.
13 Blue 4/5
The second verse did it man. The lyrics filled with some of Biggies vocals. Hear that out. Crazy, even for a short piece. The beat is nice and the concept is clear.
14 La Familia& 15 Nickels And Dimes 3/5
Both dope tracks att the end of the album. And a good way to end an album. Everything that is said on those tracks are said and the beats are definetely good.
So here ends this album review. The point average for this album is 4/5. Definetely one of Hov's best albums. I hope you all enjoyed this. I kept it all short and brief because I believe it's all up to the listener or music fan to judge him-/ herself. Again, these ratings are partly based by perception.
OurHipHopFuture Review : I'm Not A Human Being Part II |
A couple months ago the album of the New Orleans was actually set for release at the end of 2012 but later it was delayed until February 19. Now Lil Wayne's album I'm Not a Human Being II is finally out. The album has 18 tracks and features including Juicy J, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Future and much more. The expectations were that the new album was going to sell around 200,000 copies in his first week. That's a huge drop out when you going to compare it toThe Carter IV album which should nearly 964,000 copies in his first week. You can actually see why I'm Not A Human Being II going to sell less because Wayne didn't put like big rap mainstream songs on the album. Songs likeLollipop, A Milli or How To Love. The first track IAHAHB surprises me a little bit. Wayne raps over a piano instrumental which actually sounds very good. A nice first song of the album. "She said my dick could be the next black president"- IAHAHB. One of the first thing that came through my mind was a lot of these songs are going to be up tempo beats which became really popular lately. When you listen to the first couple tracks of the album, there are. Songs like Curtains, Days and Days featuring 2 Chainz and No Worries which also was on the Dedication 4 mixtape are songs with up tempo beats. Again Wayne decided to put some rock tracks on the album. Songs like Hello, Back To You, Hot Revolvejust like a couple yeas ago. It didn't packed out great in my opinion. Lil Wayne is a hit maker and has off course bangers on the album like Bitches Love Me featuring Drake and Future and No Worries. They are both songs that came out before the album were in stores. Wayne put only two song on this new album that has a calm vibe to it namely Romance and Gob Bless America. But the up tempo beats were slowly coming up into the songs. A lot of beats that Wayne used on the I'm Not A Human Being Part II album weren't that strong and impressive. You can definitely hear that in My Homies Still feautring Big Sean, Wowzers and in Beat That Shit. The beats were really disappointing. When it comes to his lyrics, Wayne was never a strong lyricism. He raps about shooting people, having sex and pussy. ''Bitch ass hoe ass pussy ass nigga, I beat shit out that pussy hoe''- Beat That Shit. Not a strong punchline Wayne !Overall this album is pretty disappointing, but it looks like Lil Wayne likes to do what he wants to do and hopefully his next project will be better? |
